Pool owners pick one of two modes when they create a group. Either way, higher rounds are worth more so the bracket isn't decided in week one.
Classic
Fixed points per round. The standard ESPN/Yahoo-style pool. Best for casual office pools where you want everyone to feel like they have a shot.
Upset Bonus
Same base points + a bonus when the winner has a worse FIFA rank than the loser. Rewards bold picks, punishes always picking the favorite.
Upset bonus formula: round_pts × max(0, winner_FIFA − loser_FIFA) ÷ 10 rounded down. Capped at 5× the base.
Beat your friends.
Pick once, compete in as many private groups as you want. Each pool has its own leaderboard and its own lock time — so an office pool that closes June 5 and a friends pool that opens late both work.
